$110.00/hr - $110.00/hr

Cullerton Group has a new opportunity for a Cybersecurity Engineer 4. The work will be done onsite at our client’s facility in Chicago, Peoria, or Dallas (one day in office each Wednesday to start; will transition to full onsite). This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is $110/hr + full benefits (vision, dental, health insurance, 401k, and holiday pay).

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to lead secure application development, vulnerability management, and cloud security engineering. This position focuses on integrating security into the DevOps lifecycle, providing expert consulting on secure design and remediation, and managing application security tools across cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure. The engineer will collaborate closely with software developers and product teams to ensure that applications and infrastructure are built with security by design, leveraging both automated testing and manual analysis to identify, validate, and mitigate vulnerabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze, validate, and consult on security defects identified through tools such as CodeQL, Rapid7, penetration testing, and bug bounty programs.
  • Provide expert security consulting to software engineers, architects, and product teams, supporting secure design, documentation, and decision-making.
  • Enable and manage automated defect detection tools (CodeQL, Rapid7, etc.) across repositories and applications.
  • Coordinate penetration testing and security assurance assessments, collecting scope data and managing outputs through the defect management process.
  • Partner with development teams to identify security gaps, design remediation strategies, and ensure compliance with enterprise security standards.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field (Master’s degree accepted with 6+ years’ experience).
  • Experience: 8+ years of professional experience in cybersecurity, information security, or secure software development.
  • Technical Expertise:
  • Application security and vulnerability remediation (OWASP, CWE/CVE, SANS 25).
  • Enterprise security architecture, threat modeling, vulnerability assessment, and defense‑in‑depth principles.
  • Experience with identity and access management, API security, and SCA/SAST/DAST tools.
  • Cloud security experience in Microsoft Azure and/or AWS.
  • Scripting and automation for security processes.

Certifications: CISSP, CCSP, GWAPT, GWEB, AWS Certified Security, or equivalent.

Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills; ability to explain complex security concepts to non‑security stakeholders and coordinate cross‑functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced knowledge of web services security and secure software development lifecycles (SDLC).
  • Additional certifications such as CSSLP, GISCP, or similar advanced credentials.
  • Prior experience in large enterprise or cloud‑native security engineering environments.
