Eaton’s North American Sales division is seeking a Senior Application Engineer to join their fast‑growing, remote team. You will work across multiple product lines and verticals—industrial, utility, and general construction—gaining exposure to leadership and helping build a business from the ground up.

What You’ll Do The Senior Application Engineer is a consultative, technical sales professional responsible for supporting Electrical Consultants (power system designers) that serve local commercial, institutional and government markets.

The role requires strong technical and commercial skills and experience in electrical power distribution, power quality and control.

Assist electrical engineers at consulting firms across the assigned sales territory with technical design and position Eaton products in a preferred position.

Provide support on major projects, including submittals, drawings and interfacing with consultants and owners.

Work with institutional end‑users to gain acceptance and promote Eaton products.

Conduct product seminars and training on Eaton products and solutions at targeted consultant firms.

Mentor and train sales engineers and other employees within and outside of the NAS organization.

Proactively share application, product, market knowledge and opinions across Eaton’s business.

Develop and deploy marketing support tools and training for consultants and design engineers.

Actively participate in and influence local, regional and/or national trade organizations that impact Eaton’s business.

Role Expectations

Consistently demonstrate the local criteria for a NAS Application Engineer.

Demonstrate deep application knowledge across Eaton’s range of power distribution, power‑quality and control products.

Apply expertise to position Eaton favorably in commercial construction specifications.

Maintain trusted advisor relationships with key consultants in the market.

Demonstrate advanced commercial skills: negotiate pre‑sales and post‑sales topics and interact effectively with end‑users, consultants, contractors and inspectors.

Maintain strong, positive working relationships across the District/Region.

Mentor sales engineers (formal and informal).

Participate in local trade organizations (IAEI, IEEE, etc.).

Share application, product and market knowledge proactively across businesses.

Understand the US Power Distribution market, competitors and strategic landscape.

Participate in Outlook/SharePoint application discussions.

Engage in multiple division/PL‑led strategy sessions each year (road‑mapping sessions, design bursts, PL councils).

Serve as a “Linked AE” to a major product line, acting as a liaison between AEs and PLs.

Communicate opportunities and threats to product line and business leaders, assisting in vision/strategy development.

Provide local, strategic leadership to sales leadership for annual operating plans.

Develop marketing support tools and training for consultants and design engineers.

Lead or participate in the development and implementation of formal consultant training sessions (local, regional, national).

Participate in the AE Steering Committee that maintains a strategic plan for supporting consultants and engineers.

Lead or contribute to consultant tools initiatives with application beyond the local district (e.g., CAG, PSG, Seismic, future electronic tools committee).

Engage in local, regional and national trade organizations (IAEI, IEEE, NEC code‑making panels, EUSERC, state or city standards organizations).

Act as a role model and mentor, demonstrating professional conduct in all communications.

Provide formal and informal mentoring within the organization.

Required (Basic) Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

Minimum nine (9) years of electrical sales and/or electrical engineering experience.

Valid and unrestricted driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

A Professional Engineer (PE) License.

Extensive electrical engineering experience.

Knowledgeable of codes, standards, Eaton electrical products, services and competitors.

Compensation Base pay and target sales performance incentive range: $165,000.00 – $242,000.00.
