The Sanitation Worker is responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils.
Start time: 4:30 PM or 5:00 PM. Shift ends at 9:00 PM. Rotating weekend availability required.
Essential Responsibilities
Wash and restock patient, cafeteria, and catering dishes, pots, and pans.
Clean and sanitize tabletops, walls, and equipment.
Sweep, mop, clean, and vacuum floors.
Wash dishes by hand or use a dishwashing machine.
Clean work tables, walls, refrigerators, and cutting boards.
Wash pots and polish equipment.
Clean equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.
Remove trash and garbage to designated areas.
Transfer supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room.
Comply with all departmental HACCP policies and procedures.
Report all accidents and injuries in a timely manner to the manager on duty.
Attend all allergy and foodborne illness training; participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
Attend training programs as designated.
Demonstrate an understanding of food service safe chemicals used daily.
May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Some high school required; high school diploma or GED preferred.
0–1 years related work experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
Awareness of food safety principles.
Food service experience in a high‑volume establishment.
Basic cleaning and sanitation practice knowledge and work history.
Maintains high standards for work areas and appearance.
Ability to work a flexible schedule.
Must be able to work nights, weekends, rotating holidays, and extended hours as business dictates.
Attends work and arrives on time with satisfactory regularity.

Decision Making: Make decisions based on specific instructions or standard practices with little supervision.
Problem Solving: Address routine problems using clear directions and procedures.
Independence of Action: Follow general instructions and procedures; work monitored by supervisor.
Written Communications: Read and write in English to understand basic safety instructions and directed tasks.
Oral Communications: Understand spoken English to follow basic safety instructions and respond to routine questions.
Knowledge: Demonstrate basic knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures; specialized knowledge not required.
Team Work: Interact respectfully with employees, professional staff, and external contacts.
Customer Service: Demonstrate a positive attitude and respond to requests promptly and respectfully.
Social/Environmental Requirements
Work at an average pace with intermittent breaks; requires attention to maintain quality.
Work is fairly routine; follows a set pattern with changes communicated by supervisor.
Potential exposure to adverse environmental conditions such as extreme cold, heat, dust, gas, fumes, steam, and chemicals.
Requires protective equipment (respirator, earplugs, mask, gloves, eyewear, etc.).
Noise and vibration from mechanical equipment; may need to shout to be heard.
Health Care Worker Status aligns with patient care area responsibilities.
Sensory Requirements Close work (paperwork, visual examination), color vision/perception, visual monotony, visual clarity >20 feet, visual clarity
Physical Requirements Requires constant walking, standing, and frequent bending, twisting, and lifting. May need to exert up to 50 lbs occasionally or up to 20 lbs frequently. Must be able to push/pull both hands, reach, and manipulate items weighing up to 50 lbs.
Pay Range $17.00 – $22.88 per hour. Compensation may exceed base hourly wage due to shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other additional practices.
