Position Title Civil/Environmental Engineer (Engineering Associate II, III; Civil Engineer)

Location Los Angeles County Sanitation Districts (Various sites)

The districts operate 1,400 miles of sewers, 49 pumping plants, 11 wastewater treatment plants, and several solid waste facilities. You will help design, operate, and maintain this critical network.

Responsibilities Perform engineering work supporting wastewater and/or solid waste management programs. The Districts do most engineering work in-house, and we are filling positions in design, energy recovery, stormwater management, operations, water and air quality, planning, construction, and source control. As an engineer you will be involved in every phase of our projects, from conception to operation.

Minimum Qualifications

ABET‑accredited bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering.

Relevant experience in one or more design, construction, or operations areas as described in the overview.

Strong technical writing and communication abilities.

Analytical thinking and effective project management skills.

Desirable Qualifications

Master’s degree in environmental engineering from an ABET‑accredited institution.

Professional Engineer (PE) license, or ability to obtain within 12 months.

Experience with wastewater treatment plant operations or solid waste facility management.

Knowledge of environmental regulations and permitting processes.

Selection Process

Initial screening of applications and supplemental questions.

Shortlisted candidates will participate in an initial screening interview, a writing project, and an oral interview.

The final oral interview is weighted 100 %.
