About Masters Academy International Masters Academy International is New England’s only school that combines top‑tier sports and academics to prepare future leaders who excel in athletics, academics, and life. At MAI, academics aren’t placed between training sessions—they are a vital part of developing an elite performer. We’ve created a curriculum that respects the demands of our athletes without sacrificing intellectual rigor. Students are challenged through engaging coursework, grounded in inquiry, which encourages healthy disagreement and debate and emphasizes quality over quantity.

MAI’s academic program aims to strike a balance between well‑being and learning for our student‑athletes, helping them develop not only knowledge but also the skills necessary to succeed in a rapidly evolving world. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their education and nurture the critical and creative thinking skills required to understand and solve global challenges. As a result, our students graduate from MAI as critical thinkers, effective communicators, and confident learners prepared to excel in any field.

About the Role Deans at Masters Academy International are full‑time mentors responsible for the social‑emotional well‑being and academic success of their student‑athletes. Working closely with faculty and serving as primary points of contact for parents, deans ensure that students are fully supported and appropriately challenged as they navigate the unique demands of balancing elite athletics with rigorous academics. In the Upper Grades, deans also provide comprehensive college and career counseling, helping student‑athletes approach the college search and application process with confidence and clarity—particularly as they explore opportunities to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

As an Upper Grades Dean, you will serve as the primary advocate and mentor for an assigned group of student‑athletes during their pivotal high school years. You’ll guide students in shaping their narratives as both scholars and athletes, making strategic academic and career choices, and building compelling profiles for college—all while supporting their social‑emotional development and partnering closely with families throughout the journey.

What You Will Do As an Upper Grades Dean at Masters Academy International, you will serve as the primary mentor and advocate for approximately 100 student‑athletes, guiding them through the critical high school years. You will support students’ academic progress, social‑emotional growth, and athletic development through one‑on‑one and group mentorship, Personal Learning Plans, and collaborative problem‑solving approaches.

Additionally, you will provide comprehensive college and career counseling, helping students navigate course selection, build compelling academic and athletic profiles, and approach the college search and application process with confidence. You will partner closely with families, faculty, and coaches to coordinate support, host dean’s meetings and family conferences, and facilitate programs that strengthen student, family, and community connections.

Who You Are You are an experienced educator, counselor, or advisor with a proven ability to build trusting relationships with students and families during high‑stakes transitions. You hold expertise in adolescent development, college counseling, and academic guidance, and you understand—or are eager to learn about—the unique challenges student‑athletes face in balancing academics and athletics. You bring a strong sense of ownership for student success, a collaborative mindset, and humility in your approach, seeking feedback and fostering growth through relationships. You demonstrate courage, adaptability, and sound judgment, approaching challenges with integrity, curiosity, and a learning‑oriented mindset. You are committed to lifelong learning, innovation, and using technology purposefully to enhance student support, collaboration, and achievement.
