Marketing Director – HarperCollins Christian Publishing
Are you a creative visionary who loves beautiful books? HarperCollins Christian Publishing, a leader in inspiring Christian gifts, seeks a driven Marketing Director to promote a bestselling, inspirational market title. The role is hybrid, based out of our Nashville, TN office.
Responsibilities
Develop and lead title and brand marketing for 12–14 projects, meeting revenue and profit goals each fiscal year.
Innovate HCCP marketing strategy, staying current with faith‑based and general market trends.
Manage author relationships and cross‑functional project teams.
Identify target markets and execute digital and traditional marketing tactics.
Coordinate promotions across all sales channels and national retailers.
Oversee budget development and expense projections for campaigns.
Leverage best practices in digital (social media, search, email) and traditional (advertising, events) marketing to maximize unit sales.
Organize national author tours and special events for major releases.
Direct development of creative and sales assets to meet communication goals.
Analyze marketing campaign data, recommend adjustments, and share learnings.
Assist in planning and presenting marketing portions at sales conferences.
Work with internal publicity to prepare marketing updates and manage external publicity firms.
Travel may be required.
Qualifications
7+ years of marketing experience; 2+ in a director role preferred.
Experience managing high‑profile individuals and teams.
Proficiency across print, radio, digital, social media, and direct mail.
Strong presentation skills with internal sales teams, external retailers, and partners.
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field; Master’s preferred.
Deep understanding of consumer marketing theory, best‑practice strategies, and tools.
Direct publishing experience preferred.
Avid book reader, collaborative team player, and effective leader.
Basic design skills for graphics (email headers, social media, freemiums). Technical proficiency with marketing tools such as Google Ads, AI tools, Canva.
Ability to manage multiple competing projects and prioritize effectively.
Strong communication, decisive, strategic planning, and obstacle‑confrontation skills.
