Compensation:
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is posted with this position. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
About The Program
Transitional Housing Program: This program provides housing and supportive services to non‑minor dependent pregnant and/or parenting young women ages 18‑21 who are still in the foster care system, as well as pregnant and/or parenting young women ages 18‑24 who were or have transitioned out of the foster care or juvenile justice system.
Role Summary:
Under the supervision of the Lead Family Advocate, the Family Advocate conducts basic social casework and coordinates related parent involvement services, including assisting youth in setting personal goals around housing, employment, education, and mental health services. In addition, Family Advocates will guide parents in their children’s education and development, coordinating health, nutrition, mental health, disability, and parent involvement‑related services for families, and being the point person for family case management.
Schedule: Tuesday‑Friday, 12:30 pm–10:00 pm, with every other Saturday off, 10:30 am–7:00 pm
Location: 155 N. Occidental Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90026
Duties And Responsibilities
Conduct family assessment of each enrolled family by identifying family strengths, interests, and needs.
Support clients as they navigate the housing stability process including obtaining needed documents for establishing eligibility, housing search and landlord engagement, referrals to community resources that match client goals, and increasing income through employment and benefits.
Complete thorough and objective case notes and service entry data for CLARITY in a timely manner in accordance with SHP policies and procedures.
Participate in case conferences, meetings with collaborative agencies, and other community meetings as directed and be available for impromptu conference calls as needed.
Develop a self‑sufficiency plan with each resident that describes objectives, action steps, timeframes, and supportive services necessary to achieve the objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Science, or a Master’s Degree in a Behavioral Science or Human Service based on current managing contract guidelines.
A minimum of two years of experience with transition‑aged youth who have transitioned out of the foster care system or juvenile justice system.
Must possess and maintain a valid California Driver’s License and a driving record acceptable to the agency’s insurance carrier.
