System One, a leading provider of outsourced services and workforce solutions in North America, is hiring an Applications Engineer for rotating equipment in the Oil & Gas industry. The role focuses on pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support for reciprocating compressors.
Location Houston, TX – onsite contractor work model.
Position Summary The Applications Engineer serves as a critical liaison between the customer, sales, and engineering teams. This role provides both pre‑sales and post‑sales technical support with a focus on reciprocating compressors used in the oil & gas industry.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
2+ years of experience in mechanical systems, preferably involving reciprocating compressors or similar equipment.
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with the ability to analyze and interpret performance data and mechanical drawings.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for diverse audiences.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Highly organized, self‑motivated, and collaborative team player.
Willing and able to travel domestically and occasionally internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting reciprocating compressors in oil & gas applications.
Familiarity with compressor system troubleshooting, diagnostics, and performance analysis.
Essential Job Functions
Serve as the technical point of contact for customers and internal stakeholders on applications involving reciprocating compressor valves and related systems.
Collaborate with the Engineering Manager and sales team to review project requirements, develop proposals, and ensure timely delivery of solutions.
Provide engineering input and support across the full sales lifecycle—from initial project scoping, site data collection, and technical solution development to implementation and after‑sales support.
Support the installation, commissioning, and maintenance of compressor valves; collect operational data for continuous improvement and diagnostics.
Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and training sessions for customers and internal teams.
Maintain detailed records of installations, field performance, and customer feedback to support product improvements and innovation.
Contribute to the development of marketing and training materials, including application notes, case studies, and user guides.
