Support the Machine Shop Foreman with managing the scheduling and production of product to meet or exceed the company’s quality standards. Efficiently manage personnel, equipment and resources in order to support first‑time quality and on‑time delivery. Support continuous improvement efforts by providing the required training and leadership. The Machine Shop Supervisor will use their process improvement skills by coaching their team on problem solving and collaborating on measurable improvement on machine set‑up time and efficiencies. Planning and organizing: Create schedules, assign tasks, and prioritize work to meet goals. Provide Resources: Ensure employees have the materials and equipment they need to succeed. Communicating: Relay information between management and employees, and communicate company goals. Training: Orient new employees and provide training and onboarding; establish and implement cross‑training programs within the Production functions. Set training and capabilities goals for Machinist. Evaluating performance: Review work assignments and techniques, and provide feedback for improvement. Handling Issues: Handle both internal and external customer issues that might arise, and assist with hiring and firing. Ensure the safe use of equipment and schedule regular maintenance; train employees on how to safely use machinery and follow procedures. Setting Goals: Set performance goals that align with the company’s plans and provide annual performance evaluations, including reporting performance records and evaluations to Senior Leadership. Review and approve Employee timecards, overtime and requests for paid time off. Continuous Improvement: Identify issues in efficiency and suggest improvements. Ensuring Compliance: Ensure compliance with legal and company policies and procedures, including meal and rest breaks, safety guidelines and company standards. Submit reports on performance and progress while maintaining various KPI’s. Monitor processes for efficiency and collaborate with other departments for optimization. Align individual performance expectations with organizational goals. Provide fair, constructive, and timely feedback towards performance expectations and goals. Education & Experience
5+ years of machine shop experience working with CNC Mills, CNC lathes, and conventional mill and lathe machines. 3+ years of experience leading a team. Experience troubleshooting manufacturing operations, including machining processes. Strong leadership qualities and 2 years’ experience managing schedules, workflow safety and personnel. Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings. Well versed in GD&T and inspection procedures and processes. Excellent leadership experience, and excellent written and verbal communication skills. Composite experience is preferred. Thorough understanding of machining equipment set‑ups and practices. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful permanent resident (green card holder), (iii) refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, (iv) asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State. Occasional travel may be required. Physical Requirements
Constant standing/walking/sitting for at least 8 hours. Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment. Clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less. Corrective lenses may be worn to fulfill requirement. Must be able to wear common protective or safety gear such as safety glasses, shoes or other as defined in safety protocols. The position operates in a manufacturing machine shop environment.
