Location: Arizona State Prison Complex (ASPC) Eyman, 4374 East Butte Ave., Florence, AZ 85132.
Salary: $58,800.00 (Grade 19).
Job Summary The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is seeking a skilled leader to oversee operations in our Wood Fabrication Unit. This role manages the production of custom wood products while designing and delivering vocational training that equips inmates with industry‑ready woodworking and soft skills to support successful reentry. As part of this work, you’ll provide hands‑on instruction in safe and efficient woodworking practices, mentor participants, and partner with workforce organizations to align training with employment opportunities. You’ll also supervise staff and inmate workers, ensure quality and safety standards, and contribute to innovative production methods. Job Duties
Design and implement a structured vocational training curriculum in woodworking, emphasizing job readiness and industry-aligned skills.
Provide hands‑on instruction in the safe and efficient use of woodworking tools, machinery, and production techniques.
Support inmates in developing soft skills such as teamwork, problem‑solving, time management, and communication to enhance employability.
Research and develop more efficient production methods.
Provide guidance and assistance to assigned personnel on current principles, practices, and procedures.
Communicate performance expectations by defining the quality and quantity of work to be completed, and ensure personnel are equipped with the proper tools, equipment, and resources to perform assignments effectively and in compliance.
Partner with facility staff, educational providers, and external workforce development organizations to enhance training outcomes.
Identify and incorporate industry certifications or credentials where possible to increase post‑release job placement potential.
Ensure the programs align with state/federal workforce development standards and reentry goals.
Supervise and train staff and inmates to include interviews, evaluations, discipline, daily attendance, work assignments, and payroll, etc.
Serve as a positive role model and mentor, encouraging personal growth, accountability, and professional development.
Conduct regular evaluations and provide constructive feedback to participants to track progress and identify growth opportunities.
Monitor material usage, expenditures, and utilization of available resources for quality assurance and efficient operation.
Communicate with vendors and customers to ensure proper specifications and dimensions.
Communicate with security personnel and other operational divisions to ensure compliance with policies, resolve problems, and provide information.
Attend staff training.
Drive on State business.
Perform other duties appropriate to the assignment.

Ensure the security and safety of subordinate staff and inmate workers
Observe and identify potential health and/or safety hazards in the work area and remedy them
Maintain safety standards based on operational requirements

Selective Preference(s) Three (3) to five (5) years of working experience in an official supervisory capacity with experience in all areas of wood fabrication.
