Job Overview

The Senior Corrosion Engineer will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing corrosion control strategies for offshore oil and gas facilities operating in harsh marine environments. The role requires strong technical expertise in material selection, cathodic protection design, and corrosion risk assessment for new developments and brownfield modifications. Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Design

Develop and execute corrosion control philosophies and mitigation programs for offshore structures, subsea pipelines, and topside equipment. Select appropriate materials for process systems exposed to sour service (H₂S/CO₂) and seawater conditions. Design and optimize cathodic protection (CP) systems—both sacrificial and impressed current types—for offshore platforms and subsea assets. Conduct corrosion rate predictions and determine suitable corrosion allowances for process and utility systems. Technical Evaluation

Review and validate vendor documentation for compliance with project corrosion design criteria. Evaluate corrosion-resistant alloys (CRA), coatings, and linings for high-risk service conditions. Perform fitness-for-service evaluations and corrosion modeling to estimate component life expectancy. Recommend suitable surface preparation, coating, and inspection methods for offshore fabrication and installation. Project & Interface Support

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, process, and structural engineers to ensure corrosion control is embedded in design. Provide corrosion engineering inputs during FEED, detailed design, and construction phases. Support procurement activities through review of technical bids and vendor qualifications. Prepare corrosion engineering documentation such as Material Selection Reports (MSR), Corrosion Control Manuals, and CP design calculations. Integrity & Compliance

Develop corrosion monitoring and inspection programs for operational assets. Provide technical oversight during fabrication, coating, and commissioning stages. Ensure all corrosion control activities adhere to NACE, API, DNV, ISO, and company specifications. Participate in audits, design reviews, and field verification to ensure design integrity. Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Materials, Chemical, Metallurgical, or Corrosion Engineering. Minimum 8–12 years of relevant experience in offshore oil and gas corrosion control and materials engineering. Certification: NACE or AMPP Senior Corrosion Technologist / Specialist preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in CP design software and corrosion modeling tools. Excellent communication and coordination skills across multi-discipline project teams.
