Position Description
Permenant Full‑Time Mid‑Level Diesel Technician – support Ryder’s truck fleet in San Diego, California.
Compensation & Benefits
Hourly Pay:
$38.01 per hour
CDL:
Class A or B required
Quarterly Bonus:
Up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, weekends off
Shift:
Second shift, 2:00 pm – 10:30 pm

Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferred
Vocational or technical certification, or post‑secondary degree preferred
Basic tools required
Two or more years of classroom training and work experience in automotive gas or diesel engine repair
CDL Class A, preferred
Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire
Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, Ryder road test, and Ryder background and motor vehicle check (including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years)
Responsibilities
Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties
Conduct standard vehicle maintenance and component inspections
Perform preventive maintenance and diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers as applicable
Identify root causes of failures, perform required repairs, and replace defective components
Carry out facility maintenance duties
Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaints after task assignment
Utilize key functions of the Shop Management System and electronic documentation available
Adhere to all federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (e.g., safety, DOT, MOT)
Perform other support duties as required, including Service Island support
