Electrified Powertrain Engineer

Mandatory skills:
"Electrified powertrain" and MBD and simulation and HIL
Role Focus: Develop and validate controls for electrified powertrains, integrating batteries, motors, inverters, transmissions, and diesel engines.
Core Tasks: Translate requirements into controls design using MATLAB/Simulink, develop features, run verification tests, and analyze functionality/performance.
Key Methodology: Entirely model-based development (MBD) within the MathWorks ecosystem, following a V-cycle from simulation to implementation.
Validation Cycle: Support integration with software teams, validate in lab environments (e.g., HIL rigs), and perform final validation on Caterpillar or third‑party machines.
Project Type: Work primarily on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects, modeling new features and evaluating performance gains through simulation.
Must‑Have Experience: 5+ years (Bachelor’s) or 2+ years (Master’s) in the automotive or heavy equipment industry with powertrain controls (diesel engine or electrified systems).
Technical Skills: Expert‑level MATLAB/Simulink proficiency and experience with CAN tools (e.g., Vector CANalyzer) for data analysis and debugging.
Work Context: Primarily simulation and console‑based lab work; machine testing requires safety training but is a smaller part of the role. No travel is involved.
Logistics: Must be open to relocation and work onsite 5 days a week. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree is required; a PhD is a plus.
Interview Process: A single panel interview with 3 team members, focusing on technical design, development, and validation experience.
