Assistant Professor-in-Residence, Public Policy The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an

Assistant Professor-in-Residence in Public Policy

to start July 1 2026. The role will teach, advise, and support experiential programming in the Doctor of Public Policy (DPP) Program, Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program, and Bachelor of Science in Urban Studies Program. Selected candidates will engage in teaching and advising at graduate and undergraduate levels and enhance student involvement in field experiences.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Teach a full course load (12 credit hours).

Advise and graduate and undergraduate students.

Collaborate with the Graduate College on matters related to the School’s graduate programs.

Lead and contribute to graduate program development, including delivery of the DPP program.

Lead and support graduate program recruitment initiatives.

Play a key role in guiding and writing academic program assessments.

Work with the MPA program’s accrediting body.

Manage MPA program internships and oversee student professional development, including organizing student involvement in Pi Alpha Alpha.

Participate in service and mentorship activities within the School.

Serve on School committees.

Minimum Qualifications

PhD in public administration, public policy or a closely related field from an accredited institution (CHEA or U.S. Department of Education).

At least 6 + years of experience working collaboratively across public, private, and nonprofit sectors with significant project leadership, program development, and stakeholder engagement.

Credentials must be obtained prior to the start date.

Preferred Qualifications

Proven excellence in teaching graduate students in public policy or administration, including curriculum design tailored to public sector needs.

Demonstrated ability to create and implement experiential learning opportunities and community engagement initiatives.

Strong expertise in public policy or public administration with a commitment to supporting diverse student populations.

Prior experience in project management is highly preferred.
