Team Overview As a Software Development Engineer in Expedia Group’s Lodging Connectivity team, you will build innovative, server‑driven user interfaces and responsive APIs used directly by lodging supply software partners. You’ll help us build intuitive self‑service tooling that accelerates our partners’ integration timelines, expands EG’s access to lodging supply, and ensures the company’s success. Come help us build an exciting set of capabilities that includes a self‑service partner portal, documentation hub, tutorials, integration certification, near real‑time API logs and metrics, and more! You will become an integral part of the team, communicate regularly with teammates, and adhere to software engineering processes established by the team.
In This Role, You Will
You will be encouraged to propose improvements to designs and processes; actively participate as a key team member in all agile ceremonies, code and design reviews.
Apply software design principles, data structures and/or design patterns and computer science fundamentals to write code that is clean, maintainable, optimized, modular with good naming conventions.
Recommend and apply architectural patterns or GenAI capabilities to improve system design and innovation.
Enhance service reliability through observability, automation, and continuous operational improvements.
Participate in on‑call support of team’s services through PagerDuty rotation.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or a related technical field; or equivalent related professional experience.
6+ years of experience in backend software development, working with cloud‑based and distributed systems at scale.
Prior professional work experience with Java, JavaScript, code versioning tools (e.g. Git) and Agile development methodologies is a requirement.
Experience building front end and backend services and a strong understanding of API services as a product.
Strong communication skills and the ability to flesh out functional requirements with the product team.
Preferred Qualifications
Languages: Java, Kotlin and JavaScript/NodeJS.
Markup: HTML, CSS and XML.
Frameworks: DropWizard and React.
Database: SQL, NoSQL, and distributed caches.
Protocols: RESTful/Open API web services, GraphQL and gRPC.
Cloud (AWS): EC2, S3, Lambda, MongoDb, DynamoDB, Redis, Kafka and Docker.

Benefits The total cash range for this position in Austin is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
