Responsibilities
Investigate and propose engineering solutions to address field and manufacturing issues on downhole assemblies.
Perform technical review of proposed solutions.
Review concessions, perform form‑fit‑function analysis and provide dispositions.
Perform stack‑up analysis and engineering hand calculations.
Utilize structural analysis, fluid mechanics, GD&T, thread calculations, erosion calculations, materials and secondary processes, static and dynamic seal applications to analyze and provide solutions to various design issues.
Develop repair/rework plans for defective components to meet print requirements.
Review use of standard materials for various applications and investigate alternate materials.
Create appropriate test plans to evaluate new designs / design changes and coordinate with testing facilities.
Update BOM in PDM system to implement design changes.
Qualifications
5+ years of experience with downhole drilling / MLWD tools in upstream oil & gas industry.
Product development experience, specifically in component design.
Strong understanding of mechanical engineering concepts: structural analysis, fluid mechanics, GD&T, thread calculations, erosion calculations, materials and secondary processes, static and dynamic seal applications.
Stack‑up (radial and linear) and engineering calculations.
CAD (SolidWorks) modeling and drafting.
Experience working with a PDM system.
Familiarity with FEA (ANSYS).
Desired Skills
AutoCAD Mechanical.
MATLAB and its applications.
Pay Range $60,000 – $70,000
Work Requirements Site‑based position located in Houston, TX. Must commute to the location. Requires extensive walking and ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
