Job Description:

Applies standard engineering methods to design, develop, and implement new or revised manufacturing & production processes for the efficient/economical production of aerospace products. Responsible for integration of design requirements into processes and procedures through research and development of manufacturing methods, tooling and equipment, facilities, and systems to produce a quality product. Leads planning and development of engineering artifacts to enable the turning of raw materials into finished and discrete products that satisfy design/system requirements and ensures production processes and procedures are in compliance with contract specifications and applicable regulations.

General Responsibilities

Develop manufacturing work instructions to clearly define fabrication, assembly, and integration processes.

Manage quality, build sequence, and schedule for hardware manufacturing processes.

Perform engineering drawing impact assessments.

Disposition non‑conformance repair and rework activities.

Support the manufacturing floor in assembly and installation, compliance to engineering requirements, discrepancy resolution, and component acceptance testing.

Investigate root causes, disposition vehicle discrepancies, and take ownership of preventative and corrective action.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.

7+ years direct manufacturing and manufacturing engineering experience.

Understanding of engineering fundamentals for mechanical design and manufacturing including solid GD&T.

Proficiency in business and engineering software (CAD, PLM, Scheduling, MS Office, Windchill, etc).

Ability to develop processes compliant with industry quality systems such as AS9100.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work cooperatively with diverse teams across large geographic distances.

Build trust, maintain positive relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

Physically able to support production floor activities; climb stairs and work in small areas.

Desired

Aerospace/Launch vehicle experience.

Broad experience in hardware manufacturing: welding, assembly, integration, instrumentation, cleaning, packaging, fabrication, machining, etc.

Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems/Software and processes.

Knowledge of fabrication processes, integration processes, and configuration management systems.

Understanding and applied experience in Lean Manufacturing.

Familiar with applicable industry standards.
