Job Summary The
Senior Cyber Security Controls Assessor
(SOX IT Tester) is responsible for leading and executing
Sarbanes‑Oxley (SOX) IT General Controls (ITGC)
testing to ensure compliance and audit readiness. This position requires deep IT audit expertise, excellent analytical capabilities, and hands‑on experience collaborating with internal teams and external auditors. The ideal candidate excels at
SOX testing, IT risk assessment, and control remediation , leveraging advanced Excel and technical skills to enhance testing precision and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Support the SOX Lead in ITGC testing and documentation for SOX compliance.
Plan, execute, and document quarterly SOX IT testing activities.
Conduct
ITGC walkthroughs
with system owners, validate control design, and draft testing narratives.
Review test plans, evidence, and workpapers to ensure adherence to
audit and compliance standards .
Identify and document control deficiencies, recommend remediation, and track corrective actions.
Coordinate with system contacts to ensure timely evidence collection and testing completion.
Apply
advanced Excel skills
(pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros, and formulas) for data analysis, dashboards, and automation.
Partner with IT stakeholders to resolve control gaps and strengthen compliance posture.
Prepare concise summaries and communicate testing results to management.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field.
Minimum
5+ years of IT Audit experience , including SOX ITGC testing.
Proven experience with
SOX compliance ,
COSO framework , and IT control concepts.
Advanced Excel proficiency
(pivot tables, macros, and complex formulas).
Exceptional analytical, documentation, and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to lead projects and meet deadlines in dynamic environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications such as
CISA, CRISC, or CISSP .
Experience with
ERP systems
(SAP, Oracle) and
audit tools .
Familiarity with
COBIT, NIST, or other IT control frameworks .
Soft Skills
Strategic thinker with strong problem‑solving and organizational abilities.
Skilled communicator who can translate technical results for business leaders.
Adaptable, proactive, and comfortable working in evolving compliance landscapes.
