The School of Industrial and Graphic Design (SIGD) at Auburn University invites candidates to apply for a non‑tenure track Lecturer position. This is a full‑time position to commence in August 2026 with a three‑year term and the possibility of a multi‑year extension.
The successful candidate should possess a strong ability to teach freshman‑level lecturer courses. Candidates need to be versed in communicating elements of design foundations, design as a human‑centered practice, design in how it impacts user experience, and design as it relates to sustainability.
For teaching more specialized industrial design major lecture‑based courses, desirable skills include:
The ability to teach Orthographic and Perspective sketching methods
The ability to teach SolidWorks or similar 3D parametric modeling software
The ability to employ 3D printing, CNC milling, resin casting, and electroplating processes to assist in the creation of high‑fidelity prototypes for existing studio classes and/or in support of annual SIGD events such as the annual student show “Kaleidoscope”
Responsibilities Responsibilities of the appointment are as follows: 95% teaching and 5% service. The teaching load consists of four lecture courses (12 credit hours total) per semester.
