Position Highlights:

The University of Arizona College of Medicine – Phoenix invites applications for the Division Chief of Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics. This leadership role seeks a distinguished, fellowship‑trained maternal fetal medicine specialist with a national or international reputation, academic and clinical experience, and a track record of research and funding. The department currently hosts 36 residents, 3 maternal fetal medicine fellows, and 2 minimally invasive gynecologic surgery fellows, with growing clinical volume and service lines. The chief will oversee planning, policy development, operations, and oversight of academic, research, and clinical programs, including recruitment and retention of faculty, and development of centers of excellence. The role reports to the chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and has a matrix reporting relationship to the CEO of Banner – University Medical Group and Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix for all clinical activities.

Responsibilities:

Serve as physician lead overseeing the maternal fetal medicine and obstetric program in the College and B‑UMCP.

Set policies, quality metrics, and strategic goals of the obstetric program within the department and hospital system.

Build specialized and comprehensive programs in gynecologic care.

Build internal and external relationships to inspire and promote collaborations across the health system.

Promote and provide a teaching environment of the highest quality and integrity.

Foster clinical and research programs of national distinction through innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Minimum Qualifications:

MD or equivalent degree from an accredited institution.

Eligibility for a University of Arizona academic appointment at the associate professor level or higher.

Board certified (or maintaining certification) in Obstetrics and Gynecology or related specialty.

Subspecialty training and certification in maternal fetal medicine.

Eligibility for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona and for medical staff membership at B‑UMCP.

Experience in development and successful implementation of new educational programs.

Recognition as a physician leader with strong communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Strong advocate for balanced clinical, academic, and educational missions within the division and department.

Willing collaborator with colleagues outside the division and department.

Experience with funded research and development of research portfolios for the division and department.
