Job Summary
A laboratory research technician position is available in the translational research laboratory of Dr. Shilpa Kodati in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences in the Kellogg Eye Center at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Kodati studies autoimmune‑mediated and infectious diseases of the eye, including uveitis, and investigates the role of gut microbiota in its development. The work focuses on understanding molecular pathways to facilitate targeted therapies and employs techniques such as single‑cell and bulk RNA sequencing, proteomics, flow cytometry, cell culture, and in‑vitro immunological assays. Process clinical samples, maintaining the internal biorepository and submitting samples for core facilities. Perform flow cytometry, cell culture, and in‑vitro immunological assays. Collaborate with colleagues on data analysis, experiment planning, and manuscript preparation, including figure creation. Train new lab personnel, students, and collaborators, and mentor junior members. Oversee laboratory practices, standardizing protocols, ordering supplies, and maintaining scientific and administrative records. Ensure compliance with regulatory, safety, and infection control standards, and lead maintenance of laboratory protocol compliance per university standards. Assist with patient recruitment efforts. Required Qualifications
BA or BS in a recognized field of science related to the position. Highly motivated, responsible individual with excellent communication and organizational skills. At least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience (intermediate level). Desired Qualifications
Interest in translational and vision research. Experience in immunological techniques such as flow cytometry, cell cultures, and in‑vitro immunological assays. Background Screening
