Position Title Quality Manager
Position Summary The Quality Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the company’s quality management system to ensure compliance with AS9100 and all customer requirements. This role serves as the primary champion for quality, driving continuous improvement, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence across the organization. The Quality Manager will manage internal and external audits, oversee corrective and preventive action systems, and ensure product and process conformity. This position requires strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across departments, suppliers, and customers to maintain the highest standards of quality and reliability.
Responsibilities / Duties
Quality Management System (QMS):
Maintain and continuously improve the company’s QMS to ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO9001, NADCAP, 10CFR Part21, and all customer and regulatory requirements or specifications.
Maintain revision control and distribution of quality documents, procedures, and records in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
Corrective Action System:
Own full responsibility for managing and maintaining the company’s corrective action systems, including external (customer), internal, and supplier corrective actions.
Ensure all corrective actions are documented, investigated, and resolved in a timely and thorough manner, consistent with AS9100 and customer requirements.
Facilitate root cause analysis, implement effective corrective and preventive measures, and verify implementation to prevent recurrence.
Provide visibility of corrective action status and trends to leadership through regular reporting and metrics.
Audits & Compliance:
Plan, coordinate, and lead internal audits, customer audits, and third-party audits.
Execute comprehensive and timely closure of audit findings and resulting corrective actions.
Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) activities, including FMEAs, control plans, and AS9102 First Article Inspections.
Oversee supplier quality performance, manage supplier corrective actions, and support supplier performance.
Maintain revision control and distribution of quality documents, procedures, and records in accordance with AS9100 requirements.
Oversee the work and training/development of inspection personnel & Quality Assurance Engineers.
Promote quality awareness throughout the organization.
Provide training and coaching on QMS procedures, standards, and best practices in accordance with AS9100.
Lead the Quality/Inspection team with focus on accountability, coaching, development, and cross-functional teamwork.
Collaborate with engineering, production, and leadership to resolve issues, implement best practices, and foster a strong culture of quality.
Actively support problem-solving and resolution of day-to-day quality issues.
Lead or support hiring activities for the Quality department.
Lead the MRB process to disposition nonconforming product.
Ensure decisions are made promptly to support on-time delivery (OTD) and thoroughly to protect product quality and customer satisfaction.
Manage customer return (RMA) system to rectify non-conformance and non-compliance escapement.
Metrics & Reporting:
Develop, track and maintain key performance metrics (KPIs), using data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Present regular updates to management on quality trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Drive initiatives that enhance product quality, reduce waste, improve efficiency, and strengthen customer satisfaction.
Ensure safety, organization, and cleanliness (6S) within the department.
Other Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the calibration program to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Conduct Annual Quality Management Review (MRR) as required by AS9100.
Maintain a strong understanding of the technical aspects of PCS products, including materials, processes, and performance requirements, to effectively support both manufacturing and quality.
Apply a strong working knowledge of GD&T and inspection methodology to support process and product verification.
Lead regular department meetings: present relevant topics, communicate priorities, and facilitate two-way input with the team.
Qualifications
Must be a US Person.
Education - High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in Quality Systems in a Manufacturing/Aerospace environment.
Demonstrated experience managing corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement projects.
Experience leading internal and external audits, with strong knowledge of auditing techniques.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in Personnel Management (leading teams).
Strong leadership skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and build a high-performing team.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with customers, suppliers, and internal team.
Positive attitude, good oral and written communication skills, and team player is a must.
Pay Transparency A reasonable estimate of the available annual or hourly pay scale for this position is: $95,000 - $110,000 per year. The actual compensation offered may vary depending on qualifications and other factors essential to the performance of duties and is determined by the hiring authority.
