About 1Five 1Five is a boutique recruiting firm in Franklin, Tennessee that partners with cutting‑edge AI, ML, and computational science companies from seed to publicly traded. We specialize in recruiting rare technical talent—ML researchers, engineers, and computational scientists—for teams pushing the boundaries of what’s possible with artificial intelligence.

We are building a small, high‑impact team of recruiters who thrive in fast‑moving environments, take ownership of outcomes, and are motivated by unlimited earning potential.

The Role As a Machine Learning Recruiter (full‑time eligible, 1099‑to‑perm structure), you will lead full‑cycle recruiting efforts across a portfolio of AI‑first startups and research organizations. You’ll be the face of 1Five to both clients and candidates—identifying, engaging, and closing world‑class technical talent.

This is a performance‑driven role with uncapped commission potential, ideal for someone who is hungry, resourceful, and passionate about the AI talent market.

Key Responsibilities

Partner with founders, CTOs, and heads of research to define hiring needs and recruiting strategy

Source and engage high‑caliber machine learning and technical candidates using creative, data‑driven approaches

Manage full‑cycle recruiting: sourcing, screening, presenting, and closing candidates

Develop and maintain relationships with top talent across AI research, data science, ML infrastructure, and computational chemistry

Deliver exceptional candidate experiences and serve as a trusted career advisor

Track performance metrics (pipeline volume, conversion rates, and revenue) in our ATS and CRM systems

Contribute to continuous improvement in sourcing strategies, outreach templates, and market mapping

Qualifications

5+ years of recruiting experience, ideally within technical domains such as AI, ML, data science, or software engineering

Demonstrated success placing technical talent into early‑stage or growth‑stage startups

Deep familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter, Clay, Ashby, or similar sourcing tools

Excellent written communication, storytelling, and negotiation skills

Self‑starter with an entrepreneurial mindset—comfortable with autonomy and performance‑based compensation

Ability to manage multiple client searches simultaneously while maintaining quality and urgency

Compensation This role is highly commission‑driven with uncapped earning potential.

Base Salary + Commission. Estimated Total Earnings (OTE): $150,000–$250,000+ for high performers

Full‑Time Conversion: After demonstrating consistent production, you will be eligible for full‑time employment.

This structure is designed for driven recruiters who are motivated by upside and ownership, not capped salary bands.
