Essential Functions
Effectively express and service the GFS story.
Travel through a large geographic, multi‑state territory to call on existing and prospective customers, maintaining relationships, seeking growth opportunities, and increasing profitable sales volume.
Manage customer business relationships including credits, lost business, growth, deployment of GFS resources, and average order size/profitability.
Utilize and apply customer profitability and pricing models to negotiate agreements.
Oversee or coordinate demonstration or presentation of products, using samples or marketing materials emphasizing salable features based on price or value to benefit customer operations.
Create and deliver a business plan based on customer needs, goals, and objectives.
Deliver consultative services such as menu engineering, wait staff, and HACCP training; consult with customers and network resources to fulfill operations and profitability needs.
Conduct Education Specialist personal results analysis and planning at customer level.
Receive, discuss, and verify order information with customers monthly, including credit terms, to establish sales performance goals.
Establish credit terms via established parameters and manage collection of receivables using electronic, mail, and personal pickup.
Identify competition, customer purchasing patterns, perform sales history analysis, and gather data to determine operational needs.
Endorse and promote GFS+, GFS Experience, and other technical solutions.
Develop and oversee customer segment shows and participate in customer events.
Collaborate with brokers to establish GFS products.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
Remain current on federal regulations relating to child nutrition.
Exhibit critical thinking to build strategic alliances.
Understand customer predictive profitability models.
Plan and execute education events.
Support division USDA commodity processes and manage entitlement.
Share ideas openly and contribute to a healthy team environment.
Collaborate with sales and marketing to manage education items.
Strong time and territory management related organizational skills.
Understand procurement methods related to the education segment.
Collaborate and offer direction to the broker‑vendor network.
Detailed working knowledge of Gordon Food Service business applications.
Plan effectively to achieve key education segment business metrics.
Team selling with Inside Sales.
Collaborate with Marketing for product rationalization.
Government Commodities knowledge.
Demonstrate a high level of working knowledge of GFS tools and technology.
