Correctional Officer 1 (CO2) positions available at Airway Heights Correctional Center (AHCC), Airway Heights, WA. About the Facility

AHCC is a 2000‑bed male facility approximately 10 miles west of Spokane. The main facility houses medium‑ and long‑term minimum‑custody inmates, with a separate perimeter and minimum‑security unit for lower‑custody individuals. The facility includes a K‑Unit for senior living, a security threat group unit, and various work programs such as Commissary, Food Manufacturing, Food Service, Optical, Textiles, Laundry, Warehouse, barber, classroom assistant, library clerk, custodial services, dog handler, game‑box manager, ground keeper, and horticulture. Salary & Benefits

CO1 – Full‑time:

$6,046 – $6,512 monthly CO1 – On‑call/Hourly:

$34.75 – $37.43 CO2 – Full‑time:

$6,200 – $7,013 monthly CO2 – On‑call/Hourly:

$35.63 – $40.30 Benefits include medical, dental, vision, retirement, paid sick leave, holiday pay, and paid vacation (for those working at least 20 hours per week). Responsibilities

Maintain safety and security of the institution and control movement in and out of the facility. Assist in controlling, directing, and monitoring inmates’ activities and movement. Act as a positive role model and work with inmates to promote productive members of society. Use interpersonal and communication skills to counteract criminal thinking and maintain safe confinement. Complete on‑time training (CWC, CORE, FTC) and maintain required certifications. Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. Valid driver’s license. Legal right to carry a firearm. One year of experience as a DOC Corrections and Custody Officer with successful completion of CORE and Correctional Officer Field Training Program, or equivalent experience in adult or juvenile corrections performing security functions equivalent to DOC Corrections and Security Officer 2. Pre‑employment drug testing and psychological evaluation. Additional Information
