Adjunct Faculty - Ethics/Philosophy
Location: Cleveland State Community College, part of the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR). The position involves teaching and evaluating students across a range of formats and locations, including online instruction. Instructors will communicate with students between classes and complete administrative duties such as reporting academic activity and submitting final grades.
Responsibilities
Plan and teach classes as assigned, covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
Maintain academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure a conducive learning environment.
Communicate with students weekly and respond to student emails via the Cleveland State system in a timely manner.
Evaluate students using a variety of methods and inform each student of scores received on each assessment promptly.
Use Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and respond to student questions via Cleveland State email.
Meet deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.
Submit requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications A master’s degree in Philosophy, Humanities, or Religious Studies from a regionally accredited institution, or a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in related fields. Three years of teaching experience preferred. Experience with alternative instructional modes (hybrid, online, interactive, etc.) recommended.
Pay Rates Adjunct Faculty Pay Rates are based upon educational qualifications:
Master's degree: $550 per credit hour Master's plus 30 semester hours (ABD): $575 per credit hour Doctorate: $600 per credit hour
