Housekeeping/Laundry at Western Hills Retirement Village
Western Hills Retirement Village is looking for a new team member to work in our housekeeping/laundry department. This position is full-time (5 shifts per week, including every-other Saturday/Sunday). Shift time: 3 pm‑11 pm.

Job Purpose The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, and safe environment for the residents, staff, and visitors of the facility in accordance with all state and federal regulations. This includes cleaning and disinfecting residents’ rooms, common areas, and other designated areas of the facility as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, and common areas (hallways, dining rooms, recreational areas).
Dust, sweep, mop, and vacuum floors; perform carpet cleaning as needed.
Sanitize all surfaces (furniture, countertops, sinks, toilets, showers).
Clean walls, windows, mirrors, vents, elevators, and stairways.
Dispose of trash and hazardous waste according to facility policies and procedures.
Ensure all equipment/tools, including cleaning chemicals, are properly stored at all times.
Restock housekeeping supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, and soap/sanitizer dispensers.
Assist with laundry services (washing, drying, folding, and restocking resident clothing and linens).
Report any observed maintenance needs or hazardous conditions to the department director.
Provide assistance during resident meal times (set up trays, remove domed lids, open drinks, provide clothing protectors, observe residents, and report concerns to the Charge Nurse).
Communicate positively with healthcare team members, residents, families, visitors, and vendors.
Adhere to facility policies and procedures, including infection control, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
Maintain a calm, supportive, and caring environment for residents and staff.
Comply with all safety and sanitation procedures, including universal precautions.
Attend in‑service programs, educational workshops, and meetings as required by the facility and state.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum tenth-grade education.
No prior experience required; previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
Minimum age of 18.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and to work independently as well as part of a team.
Ability to remain calm and cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
Strong attention to detail and high cleanliness standards.
Good general health, free of communicable diseases.
Adequate visual acuity and hearing with or without use of prosthetics.
Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, move intermittently, climb and descend stairs, use an elevator, and assist residents.
Capability to lift, push, pull, and move equipment weighing over fifty pounds and stand for extended periods.
Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Working Conditions
Supervised by the Director of Housekeeping and facility Administrator.
Exposure to unpleasant odors and possible infectious waste, disease, or conditions.
May be required to work beyond normal working hours, on weekends, holidays, and other shifts when necessary.
