Project Engineer 2 - ATX
JE Dunn Construction invites experienced professionals to join as a Project Engineer 2, playing a pivotal role in supporting routine construction and field execution activities while driving quality, safety, and productivity across projects.

Role Summary The Project Engineer 2 will complete and support routine construction and field execution responsibilities, utilizing construction fundamentals and company best practice standards, processes, resources, and tools. Responsibilities include general construction management, punch lists, self‑perform work, and project documentation, all aligned with JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.
Key Role Responsibilities - Core
Learns and participates in all aspects of the company’s safety and quality plans, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment.
Participates with project QA/QC planning to ensure quality for assigned tasks.
Leverages estimating and change management processes, including quantity take‑off and review of subcontractor proposals.
Supports site operations: monitors crew size, self‑perform hours, materials, quantities, and equipment.
Participates in punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews, and documentation preparation.
Posts drawings and specifications with the most recent information.
Organizes and participates in project meetings; prepares and disseminates required documentation.
Prepares reports: daily reports, weekly progress, unit reporting, percentage complete, daily manpower, production schedules, equipment tracking.
Conducts periodic job‑site observations with project leadership.
Creates procurement logs; tracks shop drawings and follows up on deliveries.
Provides progress updates and supports scheduling.
Supports project close‑out, including punch list, O&M manuals, as‑built drawings.
Utilizes company best‑practice standards for construction techniques.
Builds relationships and communicates with tradespeople and project team.
Understands various functions and support roles across the company.
Collaborates and demonstrates teamwork.
Incorporates Lean practices into regular activities.
Identifies, develops, and integrates self‑perform opportunities into projects.
Key Role Responsibilities - Additional Core
Implements project safety plans and promotes a culture of compliance via training, toolbox talks, and communication with Safety Representatives.
Prepares estimates, schedules, work plans, daily logs, and other project documentation.
Pre‑plans crew activities, fulfills daily task plan requirements, and completes look‑ahead schedule updates.
Supports and/or completes job set‑up and project administration in CMiC and other company technologies.
Manages subcontractor scope of work.
Coordinates with internal project support functions.
Controls costs by evaluating and improving task processes.
Assists with analysis of MOC materials and other costs on site.
Participates in training and mentoring less experienced project team members.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Accurate, timely, and complete work performance.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Understanding of organizational structure and available resources.
Knowledge of Lean processes and philosophy.
Knowledge of required construction technology.
Application of construction management fundamentals.
Understanding of self‑perform and labor productivity.
Assessment and optimization of project productivity.
Knowledge of specific trades and scopes of work.
Relationship building and collaboration within teams.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field.
Equivalent relevant experience will be considered.
Experience
2+ years construction experience.
Working Environment
Must lift up to 50 pounds.
May require periods of travel and/or relocation.
Must work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs.
May be exposed to extreme conditions.
Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching, pushing, pulling.
Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
