Position Information The Senior Data Analyst for UCR School of Medicine’s Finance and Administration team supports the strategic growth and operational effectiveness of UCR Health by developing, maintaining, and optimizing business intelligence (BI) and data analytics solutions. Reporting to the Director of Data Analytics, this position serves as the technical expert in data extraction, transformation, and visualization—primarily using Epic Clarity, MS-SQL, Power BI, and related tools.

The role is responsible for designing and implementing advanced dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into clinical and administrative performance, enabling data‑driven decision‑making across departments. The incumbent collaborates closely with UCR Health leadership, campus IT, and key stakeholders to assess data needs, ensure data integrity, and develop efficient BI processes that align with organizational goals. This position plays a critical role in supporting financial planning, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance through accurate data analysis, reporting, and forecasting.

The salary range for the Senior Data Analyst is $84,100 to $154,700 annually; however, the expected pay scale for this position is up to $119,400 annually. We base salary offers on a variety of considerations, such as education, licensure and certifications, experience, and other business and organizational needs. Applicants must have current work authorization when accepting a UCR staff position. Currently, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa for staff. Federal, state, or local government directives may impose additional requirements.

Responsibilities Apply theory and put it into practice with in‑depth understanding of the professional field; independently performs the full range of responsibilities within the function; possesses broad job knowledge; analyzes problems/issues of diverse scope and determines solutions.

Applies skills and experience as a seasoned analytics professional to projects of medium size at all levels of complexity, or to portions of large, multidimensional projects. Reports to the Director of Data Analytics, this position will contribute to UCR Health’s growth and success by serving as the technical expert in the use of business intelligence (BI) solutions and in developing ETL processes to extract data from Epic EHR and other data sources. This will include writing complex SQL queries, warehousing extracts from the Epic Clarity and Chronicles databases, as well as creating high‑impact performance analytic reports and dashboards relating to clinical operations. Specifically, the incumbent will work with various UCR Health leads, Campus ITS, end‑users, data owners, other analysts, and data management professionals to perform work. The BI and database solutions could include but are not limited to Power BI, Looker, MS‑SQL, Fabric, BigQuery, R, and Python.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related area and/or equivalent experience/training. degrees include computer science, information systems, engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Education: Master’s degree in Computer Science or Information Systems.

Experience: 4–7 years of related experience. Experience with dimensional data modeling and relational databases for Healthcare.

Experience: Five (5) years of experience designing, developing, testing, and implementing secure, scalable, and high‑performance BI and analytic solutions.

Experience: Proficiency with BI, databases, and analytic tools such as Power BI, Looker, Tableau, Cognos, SSRS, SAS, MS‑SQL, Fabric, BigQuery, Excel, R, and Python.

Experience: Proficient in developing technical specifications, presentations, training materials, user documentation, and technical documentation. Demonstrated success with overseeing software development lifecycle for enterprise‑wide BI projects.

Experience: Experience designing, creating, and maintaining database schemas, tables, views, stored procedures, and other database objects.

Experience: Experience designing healthcare quality metrics for internal clinical outcome measures and for external regulatory/accreditation agencies.

Minimum Requirements: Thorough knowledge of business intelligence functions, analytics, industry standards, and best practices.

Minimum Requirements: Thorough knowledge of relevant internal databases, BI applications and tools. Ability to produce high‑quality reports and documentation.

Minimum Requirements: Proactively identify problems and seek solutions, using past experience and research to work through discovered challenges.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to train staff at a variety of technical skill levels. Experience in developing technical staff.
