Your Opportunity to Make an Impact This is a critical leadership role responsible for the ownership and oversight of all general ledger accounting for our North American entities, and the efficient management of the entire monthly record-to-report process. You will be pivotal in ensuring the financial accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of our reporting while driving process improvements. The Manager directly manages, coaches, and develops a team of accountants and interacts significantly with personnel across our global organization. Success requires exceptional attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and a mindset focused on continuous professional development.
In This Role, You Will
Lead the Close: Own, manage, and oversee all general ledger accounting for North American entities. Assist the North America Controller in managing the monthly record-to-report process, ensuring all deadlines are strictly adhered to, and recommending actions to shorten the close cycle.
Reconcile & Report: Perform timely and accurate general ledger account analysis and reconciliation utilizing FloQast. Record various necessary transactions (commissions, accruals, management fees, etc.).
Analyze & Issue Statements: Compile and issue full financial statements. Perform critical variance analysis and provide informative, value-added explanations to department leads and executive management.
Manage the Team: Directly manage, coach, mentor, and develop a Senior Accountant and Accountant.
Oversee Treasury: Oversee daily cash reporting and forecasting, including approval of select banking activity. Compile the crucial borrowing base calculations and coordinate lenders’ inventory appraisals.
Ensure Compliance: Manage Sales & Use Tax compliance (including the Avalara relationship) and complete and submit US Census and other governmental/tax filings. Support income tax compliance.
Maintain Records: Manage fixed assets, depreciation, intangibles, and amortization. Compile and record all payroll and benefit journal entries. Maintain the Sage general ledger chart of accounts.
Support Audits: Assist and support external audits and lender reviews.
Streamline Intercompany: Record and reconcile intercompany activity, confirming all balances monthly, and proactively identifying ways to eliminate or streamline non-value-added intercompany transactions.
Drive Efficiency: Continuously review existing processes and procedures to drive improvements, acting as a "champion" for efficiency across the department.
Support the Global Controller and Chief Financial Officer on ad-hoc special projects.
Essential Skills and Experience
Experience: Six to eight years of experience in Accounting and Finance, ideally gained in public accounting and/or a large distribution company.
Technical Expertise: Strong general ledger experience is a must. Expert level skills in all Microsoft Office applications (especially EXCEL) and Tableau.
Detail Orientation: Superior attention to detail, accuracy, completeness, quality, and timeliness.
Adaptability: Proven ability to work well under pressure, adhere to tight deadlines, and thrive in a global, fast-paced, and deadline-driven environment.
Leadership & Communication: Exceptional listening, written, and oral communication skills; comfortable and capable of presenting to all levels of management. Strong team player and motivator who positively contributes to an inclusive environment.
Integrity: Highest degree of integrity and ethical standards.
Self-Starter: High level of initiative, strong work ethic, and the ability to gather, synthesize, organize, explain, and report information effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of US GAAP principles.
Strong knowledge of financial reporting principles and practices.
Education Required: A Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
Highly Preferred: CPA designation and/or a Master's degree are highly preferred.
Work Environment
Schedule: Standard hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm EST. Due to the global nature of our company, some flexibility may be required to attend occasional evening meetings, conference calls, or contribute additional work input outside of core hours.
Work environment: Professional office setting.
Travel: Some overnight travel may be required.
Physical Demands: Mostly sedentary, use of repetitive hand and wrist motions, must be able to maintain proper posture, must be able to lift, pull, or maneuver up to 25lbs.
