The University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Accounting in the Lee Business School. The anticipated start date is July 1, 2025.
Role This full‑time, tenure‑track position involves teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels, conducting significant research leading to high‑quality refereed publications, and performing appropriate internal and external service activities.
College Overview The Lee Business School, accredited by the AACSB, has approximately 85 faculty and 4,000 students, including 500 graduate students. It offers ten bachelor’s degrees and seven master’s degrees, including a Master of Accounting and MBA programs.
Department Overview The Department of Accounting, accredited by the AACSB, has 17 full‑time faculty members and offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting. Roughly 150 bachelor’s and 55 master’s students graduate from UNLV’s accounting programs each year.
University Community UNLV is located in Las Vegas, a city known for its airport, dining, entertainment, athletics, and growth. Many faculty live in nearby Henderson, a suburb with parks, trails, and sunshine. Residents are within driving distance of Los Angeles, San Diego, Phoenix, and southern Utah.
Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree from an AACSB‑accredited college or university (ABDs acceptable if completed prior to start date).
Demonstrated potential for excellence in research and teaching, evidenced by a portfolio of high‑quality publications and effective teaching evaluations.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CISA, CIA).
Strong background in accounting information systems and data analytics (also audit, financial, and managerial accounting).
Behavioral research focus (experimental, qualitative) with potential for publication in premier academic accounting journals.
