ASU's Enterprise Technology is seeking a highly motivated Department HR Specialist Senior to join our People Operations team. In this role, you will coordinate key human resources functions and contribute to building a supportive, efficient, and collaborative workplace culture. Department HR Specialist Senior , you will manage the employee life cycle, including: Recruitment and onboarding Staff compliance and internal controls Payroll management and related HR functions (as directed by the HR Supervisor) Employee professional development You will also play a vital role in: Creating and managing job postings Assisting with employee inquiries Supporting employee engagement and workplace initiatives Salary

$48,600 - $65,000 – Depends upon experience Essential Duties

Coordinates and manages employee recruitment, job postings, and hiring processes in Workday. Processes personnel actions (e.g., hires, terminations, salary changes, promotions) and maintains accurate records and documentation. Supports recruitment and hiring processes across employee types and maintains personnel files in alignment with university policies. Oversees onboarding and training compliance for a high volume of new hires, including staff and student workers. Partners with internal ASU offices to ensure international employee compliance with work authorization, documentation, and employment requirements. Collaborates with team members and the Office of Human Resources to align departmental practices with university policies and procedures. Researches and resolves payroll issues, serving as liaison between the unit and Financial Services and/or the Office of Human Resources. Assists with department time reporting activities to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing. Prioritizes projects and team initiatives. Provides support for special projects, including research, analysis, and process improvement. Performs other duties as assigned to support efficient operations and customer service. Leverages AI in routine tasks and contributes ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance. Takes responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms. Collaborates across teams and actively participates in Enterprise Technology/ASU events and programs. Desired Qualifications

Demonstrated knowledge of HR functions, (recruiting, training, and compensation) Demonstrated knowledge of all applicable federal, state and regulatory requirements, laws and standards Experience performing a full range of human resource functions within the employee life cycle Experience with Workday HCM, ServiceNow, Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Google Drive Evidence of effective organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Evidence of SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification preferred Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail with the ability to handle confidential information. Demonstrated ability to model empathy, compassion, and emotional intelligence. Experience in a values‑driven organization with a strong commitment to inclusion and belonging. Ability to cultivate a psychologically safe environment where all team members can thrive. Capacity to inspire and drive meaningful changes in individual, institutional, and corporate behaviors to support a more sustainable environment. Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding, and manipulation of a computer mouse (75%); frequently required to stand for varying lengths of time and walk moderate distances to perform work (25%). Regular activities require the ability to quickly change priorities which may include and/or are subject to resolution of conflicts.
