City of Hampton’s Public Works Department
is seeking a dedicated
Training Coordinator
to lead development, coordination, and delivery of a comprehensive operational training program. In this role, you’ll evaluate department-wide training needs, design and implement effective learning strategies, and empower staff with the skills and knowledge to excel in service to our community. Working under limited supervision, you’ll play a key role in shaping a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth across the department.

Minimum Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Education, Social or Behavioral Science, Public or Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
Three (3) years of experience in researching and implementing organizational training programs, developing training materials and/or presenting trainings. Demonstrates experience in developing and managing workforce training plans. Must have knowledge of what is current and relevant in the training realm.
One (1) year of experience in virtual learning environments.
Knowledge of adult learning techniques, training design and delivery, and change management with a demonstrated ability to conduct training needs assessments.
A combination of education and experience may be considered for this position.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Must successfully pass a background check prior to any offer of employment or promotion.
Must possess a valid driver's license and must have and maintain a satisfactory driver’s record based on the City of Hampton’s criteria.
This position is safety sensitive and is subject to testing for alcohol and controlled substances in accordance with the City’s current substance abuse policy.
Additional Requirements
May require working beyond a standard 40-hour work week to include evenings and weekends.
Experience in managing multiple assignments simultaneously; exceptional organizational and planning skills including the ability to work independently with minimal direction; prioritize work; make efficient use of time and process documents efficiently. Requires the ability to interact with the general public and staff members with tact and discretion, and provide excellent customer service for internal and external customers.
The incumbent may be considered “essential personnel” during City emergency situations or at the direction of the City Manager which may include long hours and unusual schedules.
