Director, Field Medical - Hematology/LSD/Transplant
Join Takeda as a Director, Field Medical - Hematology/LSD/Transplant where you will lead, manage, and coach a team of Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) to drive external scientific engagement with key opinion leaders (KOLs), healthcare providers (HCPs), and healthcare entities in alignment with Takeda US Medical’s strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
Lead, coach, and manage a team of MSLs to maximize performance and align team activities with US Medical strategic priorities.
Communicate and hold MSLs accountable for performance expectations including goal achievement, competency proficiency, and territory plan execution.
Develop and implement the annual team tactical plan in alignment with medical strategy.
Observe and document MSL external scientific engagement and maintain proficiency with Takeda systems and digital tools, including AI.
Plan and execute MSL participation in professional meetings (congresses).
Foster a collaborative team culture and support individual development plans.
Create MSL team reports using digital dashboards to inform internal decision‑making.
Build and maintain relationships with internal partners (e.g., Clinical Development, Commercial leadership) and attend cross‑functional meetings.
Maintain scientific expertise in the therapeutic area and provide training to the MSL team.
Ensure compliance with all relevant policies, SOPs, regulations, and ethical standards.
Oversee the team’s annual budget and ensure expenditures align with policies and SOPs.
Qualifications
Doctoral degree in life/health sciences preferred; Master’s degree in health sciences minimum requirement.
Thorough understanding of and experience working in the pharmaceutical industry and Medical Affairs.
Proven record of strategic leadership, teamwork, innovation, project management and demonstrated ability to manage, lead and mentor individuals and teams.
Extensive previous experience as an MSL or a similar scientific role.
Excellent written and verbal communication, organization and collaboration skills.
Strong foundation in use of digital tools and technologies to drive innovation, enhance productivity, and improve efficiency; comfort with emerging technologies and AI‑enabled processes.
Demonstrated understanding of compliance, ethical, legal, and regulatory guidelines impacting the pharmaceutical industry.
Travel Requirements
Must be 18 years of age or older with valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Able to travel 40‑60% of the time, including overnight and occasionally on weekends.
Authorized to drive a company leased vehicle or rental.
Compensation and Benefits U.S. Base Salary Range: $191,800 – $301,400 per year. Eligible for short‑term and long‑term incentives, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, and paid vacation and sick time. Remote position in Massachusetts.
