Job Summary
ED Coder role at CommonSpirit Health. You will code and abstract outpatient records for data retrieval, analysis, reimbursement and research, entering diagnostic and procedure codes into the 3M encoder. You must meet quality and productivity coding standards, demonstrate the ability to navigate an EMR, and code designated outpatient type at any facility. Responsibilities
Your primary duties include coding and abstracting outpatient records, ensuring accurate data capture for reimbursement and research purposes, and maintaining compliance with coding guidelines. Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED required. Associate Degree preferred. Minimum two‑year coding experience, preferably in an acute care setting, or completion of the internal coding program. Demonstrated competency with outpatient coding guidelines and APC assignment. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, email, and troubleshooting computer problems. Experience working remotely is preferred. Current AHIMA credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS‑P) or AAPC credential (COC, CIC, CPC‑H, CPC) required, or must be certified within one year of hire. Medium work – exert/lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, up to 20 lbs frequently, and up to 10 lbs constantly. Where You’ll Work
