LSUHealth New Orleans University Police is seeking motivated applicants for the positions of Police Officer 1 or 2. There are multiple vacancies for these roles.
Pay rates depend on qualifications, with starting pay of $18.58 for PO 1 and $19.88 for PO 2. Additional pay includes $2 Premium Pay, $2 Longevity Pay (for hours worked), and $2.50 Shift Differential pay.
These positions are part of a Career Progression Group. Vacancies may be filled from this recruitment as either Police Officer 1 or 2, based on experience. Refer to the ‘Job Specifications’ tab on the LA Careers ‘Current Job Opportunities’ page for salary ranges, qualifications, and job concepts for each level.
Applicants must complete a 13-week Police Officer’s Standards and Training (P.O.S.T.) academy in Baton Rouge or Slidell to attain POST Certification. The academy includes physical fitness, firearms, and defensive tactics training, among others.
Ensure all relevant work experience and education are listed in the Employment History section of your application to qualify.
This is a Civil Service Position.
Applicants must take and pass the Civil Service test (2100PSE Protective Services Exam) before applying if not already passed.
Pre-employment physical, drug test, and criminal background check are required.
Selected applicants will be on probation for at least 6 months.

Provide police services, enforce laws, conduct patrols, investigate crimes, provide first aid, enforce regulations, conduct security programs, maintain logs, monitor alarms, operate police computers, and dispatch officers.
