Technical Designer (Bridal/Luxury Evening Wear)
Alyssa Kristin is looking for a
Technical Designer
(Bridal/Luxury Evening Wear) to support our development team and manage pre‑production processes, focusing on accuracy of patterns, sizing, technical production documentation and working with our in‑house seamstresses and/or factory partners, as needed.
The ideal candidate has acute attention to detail, the ability to meet tight deadlines, a comfort balancing competing and sometimes changing priorities, and between 3 to 5 years of technical design or pattern‑making experience. This role can be based in
Chicago or New Yor k, and we’re open to
full‑time, part‑time, or freelance
arrangements depending on experience and availability.
Responsibilities
Oversee pre‑production, managing the transition from photoshoot samples to approved production for our in‑house seamstresses and/or partner factories, including pattern adjustments as needed
Review and validate patterns for accuracy – assessing notches, grainlines, and cutter’s musts, and confirming measurements
Review grading to ensure consistency and proportion across the size range, recommending aesthetic modifications as needed post‑grading
Prepare and evaluate TOPs before fittings, completing measurements and fit specs
Communicate with factory partners and patternmakers to implement post‑fitting corrections and ensure updates are properly executed
Support the quality control process by reviewing garments received from production partners for accuracy and finish
Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation including tech packs, BOMs, and embroidery or lace placement maps
Qualifications and Experience
Strong technical understanding of patterns, fit, and garment construction
Associate degree in Patternmaking, Technical Design, or equivalent professional experience
3–5 years of experience in bridal, couture, or luxury womenswear
Experience conducting or assisting with live fittings
Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail
