Quality Engineer – II‑VI Aerospace & Defense
Base pay range: $91,625.00/yr – $150,000.00/yr
Job Description
Developing and implementing quality control plans and procedures
Supporting the application of quality tools and methods, such as FMEA and SPC
Managing corrective action process
Responsible for change management, including new process qualification and customer notification processes
Leading cross‑functional continual improvement teams to work on systems, procedures, quality, cost, cycle‑time, and yields
Controlling nonconforming material
Performing and responding to quality audits
Performing supplier audits as needed
Reviewing drawings and specs for compliance to customer and government regulations
Assisting production and engineering personnel to ensure delivery of quality products
Education & Experience
B.S. in mathematics, statistics, physics, chemistry, material science, engineering, or equivalent
ASQ certified quality engineer or Six Sigma Black Belt certification is desirable
5+ years experience in Quality Engineering
Able to work within Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and email
Skills
Problem solving: guide teams across the organization to find and remove root causes for complex quality problems
Understanding of and ability to develop quality systems (process and procedures for auditing, corrective and preventive actions, etc.) including ISO 9001 & ISO 14001; CQA preferred; sound judgment in selecting appropriate methods and techniques to address complex problems and find solutions
Experience in data collection and analysis such as process capability studies and DOE data analysis; serve as a technical resource on quality related issues across the business unit
Travel 5‑10% of the time within the United States
Ability to solve complex problems using intuition, induction, deduction, data analysis, and advanced quality tools
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; able to comprehend and communicate technical concepts to senior leaders, customers, and department heads
Handle special assignments promptly and professionally
Set a high standard of ethics, professionalism, leadership, and competency

Must be a U.S. Person as defined by ITAR (U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident, or protected individual)

This includes the use of proper protective equipment (PPE) as required by the job responsibilities. Managers will ensure that all safety and environmental procedures are followed consistently. They will ensure that risk assessments are performed, proper training, work instructions, required PPE is available, and will monitor compliance.
Quality And Environmental Responsibilities Depending on location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
