Senior Manager, Data Center Construction
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Salary: $120,100 - $251,600 per year
The Data Center Infrastructure Construction team at Oracle Cloud Infrastructure is a dynamic group of professionals dedicated to delivering state‑of‑the‑art data center facilities at scale and at pace. They bring expertise in project management, technical design, construction, and sustainability to ensure our data centers meet the highest standards of quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities
Focus on base building and MEP infrastructure portions of the project.
Lead and manage construction of data centers by colocation providers, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to highest quality standards.
Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, coordinating with colocation providers.
Analyze projects to evaluate risk profiles, identify gaps in risk identification and mitigation, and inform business of potential impacts.
Coordinate tenant fit‑out integration throughout design, construction, and commissioning to align with DCIB teams.
Implement and oversee quality control processes to ensure all construction activities meet design specifications and industry standards.
Collaborate with design teams to ensure alignment with approved design plans and specifications.
Act as primary point of contact between company and colocation providers for clear communication.
Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
Ensure all construction activities comply with relevant regulations, codes, and standards.
Provide ongoing colocation provider evaluation input for continuous improvement.
Conduct regular project visits to ensure schedule, coordination, and quality throughout the life of the project.
Required Skills
Heavy knowledge of base building data center construction – civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, controls, and plumbing.
Project management for startup and commissioning phases of major data center projects.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address complex challenges in a fast‑paced construction environment.
Strategic planning expertise for developing and implementing long‑term strategies and program‑level requirements for construction projects.
Technical knowledge of data center design, construction, and operational requirements, focusing on cutting‑edge technologies and sustainability.
Proven expertise in managing large‑scale data center construction projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and within‑budget delivery.
Leadership skills to lead, mentor, and inspire diverse teams of project managers, engineers, and construction professionals.
Budget management proficiency to create, manage, and optimize project budgets for cost‑effective use of resources.
Risk management ability to identify potential risks and develop effective mitigation strategies.
Vendor management experience selecting, negotiating, and managing contracts with external vendors, contractors, and suppliers.
Regulatory compliance knowledge of relevant regulations, industry standards, and organizational policies.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement and project updates.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, focusing on data center or colocation infrastructure for a general contractor, colocation provider, or hyperscaler.
Proven track record of successfully managing large‑scale construction projects.
Strong understanding of construction processes, quality control, and design coordination.
Excellent communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
Compensation & Benefits US: Hiring Range – $120,100 - $251,600 per year. May be eligible for bonus, equity, and compensation deferral.
