Job Overview Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system, UChicago Medicine, as a Supply Chain Inventory Planner at our Hyde Park location. This 100% onsite opportunity requires you to be based in the greater Chicagoland area.

Essential Job Functions

Responsible for planning, ordering, receiving, and stocking of asset and expensed inventory for specified areas of responsibility. Manages high dollar products while providing analysis on usage, availability, and cost effectiveness. Manages human tissue tracking in accordance with FDA standards, including ordering, receiving, logging by model number, lot number, serial number, and expiration date. Presents tissue management data upon request from Joint Commission.

Responsible for entire analysis of inventory including low stock, out of stock, future expiring, open order reconciliation, and per case usage. Works with vendors to prevent stock-outs and assists in identifying appropriate substitute for backordered items. Communicates with nursing, operating room, procedural area, and clinical lab managers and supply chain staff regarding current stock levels, ordering, case schedule, backorders, product trials, and substitute item issues.

Facilitates relationships with service specific vendors relating to communication of expiring items, consignment reconciliation, assisting in periodic cycle counts, model number updates, discontinued products, product trials, and any other duties assigned by manager. Works closely with Supply Chain Sourcing team to provide data for updating supplier performance score cards.

Responsible for all inventory management decisions including additions, changes, deletes, and par level analysis. Provides quarterly par reviews, highlighting detailed cost impact and savings, both short and long term. Provides data and feedback to clinicians on supply consumption and par level optimization, including preference card recommendations where applicable. Provides detailed analysis on RFID tagged items for cost savings tracking and utilization.

Responsible for the flow, cleanliness (5S), and overall organization of owned and consigned inventory areas. Responsible for understanding/employing all lean methodology and participates in Kaizen events.

Participates in Supply Chain process improvement activities and events using appropriate tools and techniques such as 5S, Standard Work, Managing for Daily Improvement, Value Stream/Process Flow Mapping and Pull System/Kanban. Supports and engages in monthly VAT meetings, continuously identify new opportunities, and hold us and stakeholders jointly responsible for driving towards goals.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Completed bachelor’s degree or an equivalent work experience.

A high level of adaptability and interpersonal skills.

Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs.

Ability to work in a stressful setting while providing excellent customer service and patient satisfaction.

Preferred Qualifications

One or more years of previous experience in Supply Chain.

Lean management experience.

The pay range provided reflects the anticipated wage or salary reasonably expected to be offered for the position. The pay range is based on a full-time equivalent (1.0 FTE) and is reflective of current market data, reviewed on an annual basis. Compensation offered at the time of hire will vary based on candidate qualifications and experience and organizational considerations, such as internal equity. Pay ranges for employees subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements are negotiated by the medical center and their respective union.
