Working in Origination
As a Senior Regulatory Analyst, you will play a critical role in positioning Statkraft US as a leading participant in the evolving landscape of renewable energy, carbon markets, and renewable fuels. You will be responsible for tracking, analyzing, and interpreting laws, regulations, and policies that directly impact our commercial activities, with a focus on identifying risks and opportunities across federal, state, and voluntary frameworks.
In close collaboration with the trading and origination teams, you will translate complex regulatory developments into actionable insights that inform pricing, structuring, and strategic decision‑making. Your research and analysis will support the development of new products and trade strategies, helping to shape commercial ideas that respond to emerging regulatory trends and market dynamics enabling Statkraft to remain agile, informed, and competitive in a rapidly changing energy landscape.
Job Description
Track, analyze and interpret laws, regulations and policies that directly affect Statkraft US, with a keen focus on US Renewable Energy, Carbon and Renewable Fuels
Monitor changes in regulations and policies and regularly update management and the greater organization on potential impacts
Perform market/regulatory research to present new products and trade strategies to the trading team and greater organization
Contribute to the inputs, methodology, and analysis of results of fundamental modeling
Develop creative ideas/solutions to market‑based problems (commercial ideas)
Liaise and collaborate with relevant state, federal and industry‑based organizations
Develop and manage regulatory tracking tools to automate policy alerts
Build regulatory assessment reports to identify and synthesize areas of regulatory risk, market volatility, and emerging regulatory frameworks
Manage relevant consultant and third‑party relationships as required
Assist, alongside internal Legal and Compliance teams, to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government regulations
Qualifications
5+ years of experience in regulatory analysis, market research, or policy advisory within the energy, carbon, or renewable fuels sectors.
Proven track record of interpreting and applying complex regulatory frameworks to commercial strategies.
Strong understanding of US federal and state‑level energy and environmental regulations, including RFS, LCFS, IRA, and carbon markets.
Experience with market modelling, scenario analysis, and regulatory forecasting.
Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel) and regulatory tracking platforms.
Demonstrated ability to develop innovative commercial ideas based on regulatory trends and market dynamics.
Strong problem‑solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying risks and opportunities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to synthesize complex regulatory developments into actionable insights.
Experience presenting findings to senior management and cross‑functional teams.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including government agencies, industry groups, and consultants.
Familiarity with compliance processes and collaboration with legal and internal governance teams.
Experience managing third‑party consultants and ensuring alignment with internal standards and regulatory requirements.
