Department Chair, Orthodontics
– The Dental College of Georgia (DCG) at Augusta University (AU) seeks candidates for the position of Chair in the Department of Orthodontics.
Department responsibilities include the advanced dental education (residency) program, the DMD pre‑doctoral program, clinical patient care in the orthodontic clinic and scholarly activities in Orthodontics.

Responsibilities
Development, supervision, and overall leadership of the Department of Orthodontics, establishing collaborations across DCG departments and focusing on public health, community outreach, scholarly activities, and research.
Oversee all aspects of the pre‑doctoral and post‑doctoral orthodontics programs, including clinical operations, mentoring faculty, student success, and integrating new curricular content and technologies.
Promote the core values of AU and the DCG, serve on DCG and AU‑wide committees, and accept other assignments as requested by the Dean.
Allocate resources and secure funding to support research, teaching, patient care, and service.
Lead or participate in public, professional, and institutional service, including committee and board service.
Teach by participating in departmental teaching responsibilities – lectures, seminars, laboratories, and clinical supervision at the pre‑doctoral level.
Maintain patient care through the intramural practice of Augusta University Dental Associates (AUDA) to maintain practice skills.
Maintain scholarly activity, publications, presentations, and other relevant activities for career development.
Required Qualifications
DDS/DMD or DDS/DMD foreign equivalent; graduate of an ADA‑accredited dental school or an ADA‑accredited 2–3 year advanced education training program; active unrestricted license in another state or eligible for licensure by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.
Assistant Professor: Early career faculty member with background, education, and training consistent with the position requirements.
Associate Professor: Mid‑level career faculty member with at least five years at the rank of Assistant Professor, with consistent background, education, and training.
Professor: Senior level career faculty with at least five years at the rank of Associate Professor, consistent background, education, and training.
Involvement in research/scholarly activities is expected; participation in the DCG intramural faculty practice is available.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive leadership and administrative experience.
Experience collaborating with senior administrative leaders in dental schools, universities, and leadership boards or councils for higher education, accrediting, and/or licensing agencies.
Research training (M.S. and/or Ph.D.).
At least 5 years of experience in dental education and 3 years of experience in a relevant administrative leadership role.
Board certified in Orthodontics.

Benefits and Compensation Position is fiscal year based and works year‑round. Full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements; subject to availability of funds.
