Director of Fundraising Parks & People

works to sustain and improve Baltimore’s parks and open spaces through public‑private partnerships. Since 1984, P&P has invested in green park projects to revitalize neighborhoods and provides programs that let children, youth and adults learn, grow and explore the natural environment. P&P envisions a Baltimore City where green renewal spurs economic investment and population growth, where people enjoy green spaces that spark wonder, and where communities build the strength and leadership to steward the environment.

Key Responsibilities The Director will guide an annual operating budget of $5 million through a comprehensive development program. The role provides vision and leadership to build and sustain fundraising and donor relationship programs, manages a team including a Donor Relations Manager and Grants Manager, and works with the CEO to launch an endowment campaign, secure at least $500 K in major gifts annually, plan and execute annual giving campaigns, coordinate corporate and foundation grants and reports, and develop sponsorship and donation strategies for special events.

Essential Functions

Identify and cultivate major givers: identify, engage and secure at least $500 K in annual support and multi‑year commitments; administer outreach, communications and stewardship to maintain relationships.

Manage Parks & People’s development staff to ensure all individual, foundation, corporate and event fundraising efforts are performed.

Provide leadership for a $5 M endowment campaign, including feasibility study, case statement and strategy to meet the goal.

Provide professional development training and opportunities to P&P’s development staff.

Staff the Board of Directors’ Development Committee: provide guidance on fundraising matters, present regular progress reports and encourage active engagement of Committee members.

Collaborate with the President & CEO to engage leaders in public, private and voluntary sectors, major donors and other individuals/groups who can advance the mission and vision.

Management & Oversight

Manage all activities of the Development division, ensuring attainment of annual fundraising goals.

Oversee donor database system, grant tracking & reporting systems, prospect research program and moves‑based portfolio management system.

Establish and oversee a comprehensive data management and reporting system with financial projections and periodic development progress reports.

Oversee creation of collateral material supporting fundraising endeavors.

Perform other duties as assigned by the President & CEO.

Qualifications & Requirements

At least seven (7) years of development experience with a history of securing major grants and awards.

Solid knowledge of standard financial data (balance sheet, income statement, cash‑flow projects, AR/AP aging reports, monthly reconciliations).

Proficiency with MS‑Office Suite and Development CRM Software.

Excellent time‑management skills to handle multiple concurrent projects with deadlines.

Demonstrated experience leading a collaboration‑oriented team of professional staff and volunteers.

Interpersonal and leadership skills to motivate staff, board members and volunteers, and maintain positive relationships with donors.

Collaborative work ethic and ability to identify opportunities and connections between fundraising and other organizational activities.

Ability to use data and analytics to communicate progress and make strategic, timely decisions.

Willingness and availability to work beyond the usual 8:30 am‑5 pm business day and on weekends as needed.
