What You’ll Do Principal’s Global Equity team is searching for an experienced Small Cap Industrials Equity Analyst to join our research team. This candidate will work with a diverse team of portfolio managers and dedicated sector analysts to deliver proprietary research and investment recommendations.

Generate alpha through investment recommendations based upon in-depth, detailed proprietary analysis of industrial companies, with a specific focus on small‑cap ( Interact frequently with company management, industry experts, and other stakeholders to gather differentiated and validated qualitative and quantitative insights

Partner closely with the Industrial sector team lead, analysts, and portfolio managers to provide outperformance through stock selection while working within the framework of our research process and portfolio constraints

Build and maintain detailed financial and market‑oriented models to forecast company performance and assess security valuation, incorporating macroeconomic and industry‑specific factors

Generate timely, actionable investment ideas and communicate insights through written reports, models, presentations, and investment committee discussions

Maintain research coverage of existing investments within industrials for multiple portfolios

Who You Are

5+ years equity investment experience in industrials, preferably with at least 2 years on the buyside

Proven track record of generating consistent alpha through actively covered investment recommendations

Advanced knowledge of various financial applications: FactSet and Bloomberg

Ability to distill and communicate industry data and trends into actionable investment insights

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out

Possess best‑in‑class analytical skills, including extensive knowledge of the Industrials sector, fundamental company analysis, and financial modeling

Highly intellectually curious, with a clear passion for investing and public markets

MBA or CFA highly preferred

Entrepreneurial mindset; self‑starter with a desire to build out an individual franchise within an Industrials dedicated team

Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

Extensive use of AI within security research

Humility and self‑awareness

Salary Range Information Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non‑sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer.

Salary Range (Non‑Exempt expressed as hourly; Exempt expressed as yearly): $137,000 – $236,000 / year

Time Off Program Flexible Time Off (FTO) is provided to salaried (exempt) employees and allows the opportunity to take time away from the office with pay for vacation, personal or short‑term illness. Employees do not accrue a bank of time off under FTO and there is no set number of days provided.

Location(s) Locations include New York City, Chicago, Seattle, Denver, or Des Moines. You’ll work with your leader to determine the arrangement which best suits our needs.
