Position Summary The Accountant at the Fiscal Department performs a variety of duties to update and maintain corporate administrative and accounting records. Duties include: preparing and entering weekly deposits for multiple companies, obtaining and sending necessary documentation and reports to and from programs/divisions, preparing and posting monthly contract billings, maintaining audit schedules, reviewing accounting transactions to ensure accuracy of information, assisting program or other staff on Fiscal inquiries, and other similar duties primarily to support the administrative and financial systems of the organization. This is a full‑time, on‑site position based at our corporate office in Chicopee, MA.

Pay Rate:

$24 an hour

Open Shift:

Monday through Friday 9am-5pm (40h)

Key Responsibilities

Prepare, review, and post monthly billings to agencies; ensure all required documentation is accurate and submitted on time.

Process weekly deposits, update client ledgers, and record Vendor Web (EFT) payments to corresponding contract invoices.

Review program vacancy and hospitalization data for accuracy and completeness.

Provide monthly budget reports to programs and assist with inquiries on reported figures.

Reconcile general ledger accounts, prepare journal entries, and support monthly closings and year‑end audits.

Assist with annual reporting, including Unclaimed Property, 1099s, ABC, and year‑end filings (990, PC, UFR, statistical reports).

Scan and distribute required documentation, respond to information requests, and perform account analysis as needed.

Support special projects, audit preparation, and serve as backup for Fiscal staff when required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or three years of relevant work experience preferred.

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), bookkeeping, and accounting cycle procedures.

Strong organizational, communication, and computer skills.

Proficient in Excel, MS Word, Blackbaud, and Peachtree.

Ability to perform and verify accurate computations, compile statistical data, and prepare reports.

Able to work effectively under time constraints and manage multiple priorities.

Attention to detail with strong visual acuity for reviewing written and computer data.

Manual dexterity and coordination required for operating standard office equipment.
