Job Overview Intermediate Typist Clerk – Emergency appointment addressing LA County homelessness crisis.

Responsibilities

Type abstracts of judgment, executive notices, complex charts, forms, and statistical documents requiring extreme accuracy.

Process documents per specialized procedures for property descriptions, court papers, transcripts.

Check documents for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with legal requirements.

Provide public assistance on regulations and filing of legal forms.

Maintain records requiring specialized knowledge and discrimination in data selection.

Control clerical records, search files, estimate amounts, collect fees.

Exercise minor supervision over other clerical work.

Minimum Requirements

Full‑time office clerical experience: Six months typewriting in County service OR one year outside County, OR a certificate or Associate of Arts in clerical procedures.

Typing skill: 40 net words per minute.

Physical class II – light effort, occasional lifting up to 10 lb.

Examination Approved County typing test at minimum 40 words per minute. Type‑test administered online.

Appointment Emergency 90‑day appointment with evaluation; successful candidates considered for permanent assignment.
