The RMD team is looking for a Senior Principal Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Sensors (MDS) department. The MDS department provides subject matter expertise for concept development, architectural design, requirements generation & flow-down modeling and simulation systems analysis integration test and evaluation of world-class Missile Defense & Sensor Systems to be achieved through our people, processes, technology and performance.
This position is on site in San Diego CA.
What You Will Do
Analyze radar system performance data with respect to requirements
Identify performance deficiencies and propose solutions
Define and prototype new algorithms to enhance system performance
Present plans, designs, and system performance to peers, internal leadership and external customers
Provide subject matter expertise to agile software development teams to ensure proper implementation of requirements
Capability Areas
Electronic Protection signal processing applied mathematics
Hypersonic threat defense
Tracking discrimination search and battle manager interfaces
Radar calibration diagnostics deployed site support
Modeling and simulation of tactical software
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelors in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience or equivalent experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Battle Management, command, Control, Communications, Computers and Intelligence (BMC4I) systems, Radar Systems or signal processing techniques.
Experience with developing, documenting and maintaining processes, methods and tools.
Ability to develop technical solutions to complex issues.
Experience working with Matlab, C/C++, Java or DOORS.
Analytic technical and problem‑solving skills.
Experience with MS Office Suite
Experience with system level requirements development documentation and maintenance and/or requirements development and design of system level software architecture.
Experience with radar system concepts; detection discrimination track and signal processing algorithms and their behaviors and performance.
Experience with the development and coding of system models, algorithms, test vectors and analysis tools in support of analyzing radar requirements and performance.
Experience and interest in Information Assurance / Cyber Engineering requirements determination, development and implementation.
Experience in using AI / ML and signal processing in database and algorithm design and enhancement.
Previous Military Service
Ability to interface with customers and lead technical solutions to complex user needs.
Active DoD Secret Clearance or greater.

The salary range for this role is $124,000 USD – $250,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer including but not limited to the role function and associated responsibilities, the candidate’s work experience, location, education/training and key skills.
