Job Summary Reporting to the Director of Athletics the Head Coach Womens Soccer is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the Womens Soccer program including coaching, scheduling, practice planning, recruiting, budget oversight and student‑athlete development. The Head Coach supports the mission of the College by fostering an environment of academic and athletic excellence, integrity and personal growth. The Head Coach collaborates with various campus departments such as Admissions, Student Affairs, Institutional Advancement and Alumni Relations to enhance community engagement and student recruitment. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on institutional needs and the individual’s skills and experience.
Job Duties
35% - Coaching – Practice planning and execution, contest preparation, scheduling contests, budget planning and oversight, managing program equipment and gear, and planning and supervising team travel (Essential).
25% - Recruiting – Implementing and executing an effective recruiting plan, including collaborating closely with the Admissions Office (Essential).
25% - Developing Student Athletes – Support the academic success and personal development of student‑athletes (Essential).
10% - Fundraising – Work collaboratively with Institutional Advancement and Alumni offices to facilitate connections and promote fundraising efforts (Essential).
5% - Perform other duties as assigned (Essential).
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field to position duties or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Three years of experience in coaching at the collegiate level, preferably within NCAA Division III or in a similar competitive environment.
Two years of supervisory experience.
Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the College, the SCIAC Conference and NCAA Division III.
Ability to work amiably with students, administrators and faculty.
Ability to demonstrate a strong commitment to the academic achievement of student athletes.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Drive/folders/forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
Demonstrated ability to be detail‑oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
Strong commitment to a quality work product.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies.
Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.

Knowledge of contemporary leadership and management methods to ensure employee success and achievement, and demonstration of related and applicable skills as evidenced by the ability to effectively direct, assess and evaluate the performance of direct reports.
Ability to effectively design, define, describe and document job functions, responsibilities, tasks and required qualifications associated with supervised positions, and the demonstrated skills in assessing candidates, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities when hiring for vacant positions to ensure the best choice of candidate.
Ability to provide employee development training and opportunities for direct reports to demonstrate performance achievement and success; recognizing performance of both above standards and needs for improvement and responding accordingly. Skilled at communicating feedback verbally, in writing and electronically, and documenting performance via introductory and annual performance appraisals.
Skilled in developing and determining corrective employment / performance / behavioral strategies as needed. Demonstrated ability to design and execute performance improvement plans, conduct disciplinary action and/or determine the appropriateness of employment continuation.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in athletic administration, sports management, education or related fields.
EXPECTED HIRING RANGE: $70,304 / yr – $71,000 / yr If you are offered this position at Occidental College your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as skills, education, experience and/or geographic addition to those factors. Occidental complies with applicable pay equity laws and considers internal equity among current employees when developing the final offer. Please note that the range mentioned above is the base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. We also offer a generous compensation and benefits package.
