Job Description
Our PE backed, growing, SAAS client is seeking a hands‑on and detail‑oriented professional to serve as their Director of M&A Accounting. This role is a key contributor within the accounting team, focused specifically on the financial aspects of mergers and acquisitions—from initial due diligence through post‑close integration. This position works cross‑functionally to lead the accounting‑related efforts tied to acquisitions. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in purchase accounting, technical accounting, and integration of acquired businesses into existing systems and processes, with particular focus on revenue, accounts receivable, cash, and collections.
Key Responsibilities Acquisition Support & Due Diligence
Perform accounting‑focused due diligence, particularly around revenue, AR, cash, and working capital
Identify and assess accounting risks and integration complexities
Purchase Accounting & Close Activities
Prepare and document purchase accounting entries (e.g., opening balance sheet, goodwill, intangibles, etc.)
Ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal policies in recording acquisition‑related activity
Post‑Acquisition Integration
Lead the accounting integration of newly acquired companies, including aligning chart of accounts, revenue streams, cash management processes, and financial controls
Collaborate with IT, finance systems, and operations to ensure a smooth transition into ERP and reporting environments
Identify and implement scalable process improvements for future integrations
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; CPA required
5+ years of relevant accounting experience, including purchase accounting, technical accounting, and M&A integration
Experience working in transaction advisory with PE backed companies
Strong understanding of US GAAP, especially ASC 805 (Business Combinations) and ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition)
Experience working on ERP and system integration projects
Excellent cross‑functional communication and project management skills
Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, evolving environment
Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
