General Description
Precision Associates Inc. is looking for an LSR Manufacturing Engineer that will be responsible for the development, implementation, and improvement of production processes in the LSR Molding Department in order to ensure product meets customer specifications and quality standards. This individual will work cross functionally and be recognized as a subject matter expert in order to facilitate improvement across manufacturing operations.
Key Duties/Responsibilities
Initial mold sampling and molding process development. Development of any secondary processes related to that product as well.
Provide support to manufacturing as needed to insure processes are operating at acceptable quality levels and efficiencies.
Utilizing data analysis tools, recommend and implement measurable improvements to manufacturing processes.
Champion and support PAI Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives (e.g. kaizen and 5S events).
Support manufacturing by interpreting and communicating relevant documents, including: Work Instructions, QMS Procedures, Industry Standards, Customer Specifications, Drawings, etc.
Perform root cause analysis in response to manufacturing defects and customer complaints; develop, implement, and document effective corrective actions.
Provide training and assistance to manufacturing operations to ensure production processes are being executed effectively.
Create Work Instructions and Standard Operating Procedures to document manufacturing processes.
Review customer designs and provide feedback to ensure manufacturability.
Team with Sales Engineering to provide accurate product information, feedback, and quotes to customers.
Work closely with our in-house Tool Shop on mold designs and improvement ideas for new and existing LSR molds.
Evaluate process performance and perform cost analysis in order to provide suggestions as to how to improve quality and reduce costs.
Demonstrate a sense of urgency and flexibility to solve immediate problems, while continuing to manage long term projects.
Maintain a professional demeanor in working closely with other team members across different departments in achieving project and daily success.
Support of PAI Company and departmental goals.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor Degree in Engineering or relevant Science and/or combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment in an engineering role with broad exposure and increasing responsibilities over time.
Required Qualifications
Injection molding experience. LSR molding experience preferred.
Extensive experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; capable of communicating technical information at all levels of the organization, including with external customers.
Ability to write technical documentation, including procedures and work instructions.
Proven track record of driving continuous improvement in a manufacturing environment.
Must be a strong individual contributor with cross-functional leadership skills.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, including success applying problem solving tools such as: DMAIC, 8D, A3.
Ability to interpret technical documentation including drawings and product specification documents.
Must have good organizational and project management skills; able to prioritize multiple projects.
Self-motivated, able to take initiative and work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with rubber molding, LSR molding (particularly Arburg Presses), or injection molding.
Experience with Mold Design.
Experience with robots on injection presses or automated manufacturing cells.
Six Sigma Black Belt, Green Belt, or Lean Expert certification.
Experience applying statistical methods and statistical software such as Minitab.
Experience with automation systems, including assembly, processing, and inspection.
